Gravesend Dentist Amira Tells All

How old were you, and what made you decide you wanted to become a dentist?

I became inspired to become a dentist at a very young age after my mother had treatment for oral cancer. It was actually diagnosed by a dentist and as a result she is a survivor. I believe dentists can help save lives.

Where did you attend school and how long have you been practicing?

I studied Dentistry at King’s College London after which I completed my post graduate qualification MFDS RCS Edin (Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh). I have been practicing for three years now and am thoroughly enjoying being part of the fantastic team at PMA Dental Care.

What advice would you give to a young person considering a career in Dentistry?

Dentistry is a fantastic career choice for those who love working and being creative with their hands. It requires hard work, determination and a passion for helping people. Getting as much work experience as possible before applying is key.

What is one thing you find most satisfying about being a dentist?

One of my favourite things about being a dentist is to see my patients smile with confidence following the work I have done. I also enjoy helping patients improve their overall well being through good oral health.

That’ s the tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth 😉

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Dr Mathew better! And, as always, THANKS for being our valued patients and friends!
