NATIONAL SMILE MONTH is celebrating it’s 40th birthday this year. As usual we will be giving away free goody bags to our younger patients to help celebrate this year’s event. Find out how to get a bag.
2016’s Smile Month Key Message
Most of us brush for less than two minutes, our diet is full of added sugars while millions haven’t seen a dentist in the last two years.
Over a long period of time such neglect can lead to unnecessary, invasive and expensive treatment. Oral health problems such as gum disease and tooth decay are the consequence of such neglect. We now know that the neglect can lead to other serious health problems beyond our mouths!
An increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, dementia, complications during pregnancy and male sexual health problems are just a few of the consequences of not looking after our teeth.
The three key messages which go a long way to improving your oral and general health are:
- Brush your teeth at night and at least one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste
- Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
- Visit your dentist regularly
Care your Your Smile and Health
Maintaining a good level of oral health is a simple task but many of us neglect it. It’s not time consuming or costly but many of us still miss out on the most basic day-to-day hygiene routines.
